Slow telent login screen
Basically it shut down X. That's what I want to do - in fact, on that distro, as soon as the login screen came up, I would shutdown X, then login from the On RH7, I have two issues with this: 1) It is hard to shutdown X; I have to do the ctrl-alt-backspace at just the right time or KDE just restarts itself

Login Screen/Welcome Screen.....
Anyway so I go into the computer \\server\c$ and replace the file, I restart and I get the same error. What is going on?? I then try safe mode, reinstall the client and restart it works, Seriously what is so hard to make your login screen come up, it wouldn't be so bad if i could login without nw client.

Can't get past login screen
I can't log in as *anyone*, including root under the GUI login screen for Mandrake 8.1. X just keeps restarting, and I keep getting the GUI login screen. Whee. One reason why I hate the graphical login screen. Though I guess you'd be up the same creek if you couldn't log in from a tty. messed up).

Radeon 7500 w/ DRI locking on restart of X
Bascially the desktop retains the 1280 setting now after restarting and logging in, but the login screen is running at a lower resolution which is a little annoying. I can't figure out how to get the login to run at 1280. It used to for sure. I tried t oflash pram, but that did not work. Any other ideas?

Don't you just mean "exit the login shell" Exactly. A user dials in (answered via mgetty) and is presented the login screen. Standard stuff. Init is responsible for spotting that sort of thing and restarting mgetty. Init must get the sigchld (ie it's inevitable, since there are no other parents) when the shell

Screen size in GNOME?
All have the same problem: SCO takes a WAY long time to display the login on the 'telneted' screen port. I would like the login to be displayed sooner/fast, since I will be installing this at my customer in August. My customer will think his Unix is not working and he will restart the server.

Login screen freezes after not using the pc after a while
Make sure "Use the Welcome screen" has a check mark in the box. Tap Apply Options, close out any open programs and restart the system. Unless there is a reason for the logon keyboard to appear (ie, a logon required somewhere) the Tablet PC would just boot into your user account without presenting a keyboard.

HELP! XFree86 and RedHat 6.1
Beats me what the problem is; I'm speculating that restarting back into OS 9 without logging out from OS X is causing some problem. It would seem that a graceful logout (then restarting from the login screen) would be better, so I'm doing that now. But that's just a guess.

graphical login constantly restarting
Your Welcome Screen is turned off. To make it on: 1. Click Start - Control Panel - open User Accounts 2. Click "Change the way Users Log on or Off. 3. want to Auto login with uncheck the option "User must enter a password to use the computer". 3. W2003 Login Screen Grayed Out
After rebooting, however, I see the XP load screen and then right before the system initializes, it automatically reboots. It never reaches the login screen. Even after successive reboots, even after safe mode and "last good config". Do I have to re-install XP? Any ideas? Are the system files corrupt?
